Abstract

The thematic accuracy assessment (EETM), in thematic mapping, constitutes an indicator of the reliability of the product generated by recognizing the biophysical environment. However, although there are several investigations and developments around the EETM, especially oriented to the cartography of coverage and land use, there are other topics such as geomorphology that requires a deeper analysis of this type of assessment. In this research, a methodological proposal for the EETM of geomorphological cartography was developed, which comprised two general components 1. Thematic and 2. Statistical, which included several processes such as the review and selection of inputs from remote sensors. and thematic mapping at 1: 25,000 scale, the activation of the quality control environment for the geomorphology layer, the performance of the statistical sampling design, the verification of thematic accuracy, and the generation and analysis of a matrix of confusion. The results obtained in this initiative provide an alternative to carry out the thematic verification of the products that are generated based on statistical variables and provide a metric of the reliability of the geomorphological maps that guarantees the end users (internal and external) their quality and usability, it also facilitates the verification processes of geomorphological cartography.
