Maya musicians and dancers. A brief approach to their contexts and functions during the Classic period

Abstract
This article aims to analyze the musicians and dancers of the Maya elite through epigraphy and iconography examples in sources of the Classic period (250-900 AD), such as ceramic, mural painting, and sculpted monuments. Therefore, various aspects are studied as clothing, titles, musical ensembles, functions and different contexts which musicians and dancers appear. All this in order to understand its political and religious implications within the complex sociopolitical framework in which the Maya elite participated.
