Abstract

Spotlights: The Archaeology of a Lighthouse in Southeast Brazil This article focuses on a rarely approached issue in material culture: light- houses. Based on theoretical concepts from marine and industrial archaeolo- gy, we present a pioneering study on lighthouse archaeology in Brazil cen- tered on the analysis of the different technological and architectural configu- rations of Farol do Bom Abrigo (The Good Shelter Lighthouse), in the south coast of São Paulo State during 19th and 20th centuries.
