Abstract

The Teeth of Human Groups between Final Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene in Asia (14,000-7,000 BP): Existing Information Up to 2013 and Comparison with Sinodont/Sundadont Theoretical Model The principal goal of this research is to contribute to the discussion on the origin of the prehispanic societies in America. The research base includes the dental data on 475 individuals from nine archaeological collections of the Asian Mesolithic and the Neolithic dated between 14 and 7,000 BP. They are organized on the base of 35 characteristics according to ASUDAS (Arizona State University Dental Anthropology System). Special analysis was done to confirm the validity of MTSS classification for the Asian regions. It is concluding that sinodontia was not the leading morphological component of Asian populations during the Mesolithic and Early Neolithic. Finally is proposed the model of discriminative functions of six characteristics to be used in future comparative studies of American materials with the same timeline frames.
