DESTRUCTIVE POTENTIAL GENERATED BY THE ECUADOR EARTHQUAKE ON APRIL 16, 2016

Abstract
The earthquake of April 16, 2016, with magnitude 7.8 caused death to 656 people and provoke more than 16600 injuries. Economic lost was over 3000 of millions of dollars. This earthquake was one of the most devastator in Ecuador. The acceleration spectra in Pedernales City are higher to the spectra of the Ecuadorian Code. They show a high destructive potential, especially for structures with low strength or flexible. In this work, we present an assessment of the records get during the earthquake of April 16, 2016, and they are compared with the Ecuadorian Code. Finally, the structural response is evaluated by non -linear analysis for a typical kind of buildings place in corners that had an amount important of collapses.
