Abstract

Núñez de Cáceres is considered the Father of the First Dominican Independence. He probably was the brightest man in his generation. He gave the first steps towards the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean. At the very beginning, his mind was moderate, but encompassed secularization and anticlericalism. After the failure of his emancipation scheme, Núñez de Cáceres went to Venezuela. Afterwards, in 1831, he moved into Mexico. There, his thinNing evolved from illustrated or moderate into radical liberalism in the context Mexico’s first Reformation, led by Valentín Gómez Farías in 1833. After that, he became a fervent defender of the Federal system. He lived his later years performing several different duties in the federal state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.
