Magisterio magazine: a reflection of political contexts and the education in the national unit, 1959-1971

Abstract
The present work is a first analytical approach to the magazine Magisterio del snte; based on the proposal of Cultural Magazines and Intellectual History; which have made it possible to draw the following objectives; explain the political position of the publication vis-à-vis national —Mexican— and international events at the end of the 1950s until the year 1971. From the national ones, the trade union movements and the position of the snte of said movement are analyzed; the manifestations of the reactionary right to the educational policy of President Adolfo López Mateos and his Secretary of Public Education, the intellectual Jaime Torres Bodet; in the international context, it lays out the political position of the Magisterio regarding the Cold War and the Cuban Revolution. Finally, this research studies the inflections, political, educational and union tensions underlying and veiled in the monthly publication, which give us glimpses of how a magazine affiliated with the government contains fissures regarding the political and educational line with which it was created.
