Abstract

The autor develops a substantive theory that explains the process of cultural
transformation as an effect of violent invasions of one society over another, proposed within
the theoretical position of Latin American Social Archeology. Like any substantive theory, it

is exposed as fallible and transcendible in view of its contrast with certain historical exam-
ples and the construction of another theoretical construction that explains more and better.

The constitution of the category of culture is revised and the process of transformation is
defined as a permanent dynamic. All the constitutive aspects of the substantive theory of

cultural transformation are reviewed, its pragmatic-methodological, formal-syntactic, onto-
logical, aesthetic, evaluative and empirical aspects are addressed from historical materialism

general theory.
