In Mexico-Tenochtitlan ialtepetzintiliz: the foundation of the Mexica city
Main Article Content
Abstract
The celestial sphere played a fundamental role in the development of Mesoamerican culture. The main deities had a counterpart in the firmament and were the object of careful and intense worship. Based on ethnohistoric sources from the 16th century, a sculpture of great symbolic significance for the Mexica, and several astronomical events that occurred in the year 1325, a specific date for the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan is proposed.
