Abstract

On April 21, 2019, more than six hundred women dressed in the P'urhépecha style, and carrying majestic clay pitchers on their heads, went in a procession on the outskirts of the Barranca del Cupatitzio National Park towards the Temple of the Immaculate in Uruapan, Michoacán. , in Western Mexico. They participated in the ceremony of the water carriers, bearer of a double meaning: to preserve the vigor of the Cupatitzio River and to give health to the families of the neighborhoods. This book gives voice to the protagonists of the recovery of this water blessing ritual that had been abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century.
