Abstract
Tourism is an economic activity of great relevance that impacts the organization of territories, the environment and the ways of life of the peoples of the world. The Mexican case, and particularly that of the southeastern region of Mexico, with the Cancun-Riviera Maya corridor as its epicenter, is emblematic for understanding the social, cultural and territorial transformations that tourism can trigger.
