Methodological contributions for the study of Pre-Columbian music in Thomas Stanford´s work

Abstract
This article shows some of the methodological contributions that Thomas Stanford makes in the study of the Pre-Columbian music and musical instruments from Mexico. It’s divided in two parts, the first one describes some historical sources that have been analyzed and some approaches that have been developed for the study of pre-Columbian music and musical instruments. The second part talks about Stanford's contributions on this subject, highlighting the anthropological and ethnomusicological approach, that this researcher applied on the interpretation of past events
