O patrimônio do transporte ferroviário no Brasil: contribuições da Arqueologia Industrial ao registro e preservação do sistema ferroviário

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to highlight examples of railway heritage listed in Brazil and propose a reinterpretation on them from an industrial archaeology approach. For ours, this approach about the railway transport remains allows better understanding of some Brazilian industrialization practices (architectural, technological and social). Even an industrial archaeological point of view about theses listed railroad sites could review aspects of Brazil's railway history. Consequently, we try to demonstrate the potential of this approach, if applied to remains of railway transportation. In the end, we emphasize the importance of recognizing the railway operation functional aspects to a better understanding of the railway system.
