Abstract

This research is the development of an index Environmental Fragility in digital car- tographic support for hydrogeomorphological Peñuelas Lake Basins in Chile and Lake Amatitlan in Guatemala. Which was elaborated to identify whether the fragility Amatitlan Lake and Lake Peñuelas has increased or decreased in the period between the 80’-2014.  For this, the technique of Remote Sensing and GIS processing, field reconnais- sance, interpretation of data (satellite images, field data and meteorological data) is used. This methodology is modeling the Landsat image processing in hidrogeomor- fológica Lake basin during periods Peñuelas 1989 (March and November), 1995 (June and December), 2008 (March and September) and finally 2014 (July to No- vember). Well as the results of the basin Amatitlán years 1990, 2000 and 2010. The main conclusion from the results is that the fragility of Lake Peñuelas in Chile be- tween 1980 and 2014 has decreased due to being under the category of National Re- serve and Lake Amatitlan in Guatemala has presented a deterioration since the early 1990, for failure to file conservation policies.
